On 6 May 2023, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community organised Eid Milan at its national headquarters Qadian. The event was presided over by Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori, Chief Executive Director of the Community in India.
The program formally commenced at 6 PM with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr Ehsan Ali, a professor at Jamia Ahmadiyya, the Ahmadiyya Institute of Languages and Theology. Maulavi Gyani Tanveer Ahmad Khadim presented the Punjabi translation of the recited verses. He then welcomed the guests and briefly introduced the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
This was followed by short speeches by some dignitaries. One of the speakers was Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Punjab from the constituency of Qadian. He said that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was a peace-loving community that is constantly engaged in efforts to establish peace in the world. He added that Qadian being the spiritual birthplace of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, all the inhabitants of Qadian feel proud that their hometown is known worldwide owing to the humanitarian activities of the Community.
In his presidential address, Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori said India was home to different religions, cultures and ethnicities. In this way, he said, it resembled a beautiful bouquet. He said that preserving the unity of our country was hence essential and would ensure our nation’s progress.
The program concluded with silent prayers led by the chairperson, after which high tea was served. The event was attended by a gathering of around 500 guests, which included people of different religions and faiths from Qadian and its surrounding towns.
