“To truly love God and Islam requires a person to love his Nation”—Worldwide head of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India extends its heartfelt Republic Day wishes to all the people of the country.
26 January is a historic day and an important milestone in India’s development. It was on this day in 1950, after two and a half years since its independence, that India became a democracy.
It is with pride that we acknowledge that our country India is the largest democracy in the world in terms of population. It is a very diverse country, being home to different religions, ethnicities, colour, cultures and languages. Yet, everyone here lives with mutual love and respect.
In his speech delivered at the German Military Headquarters in 2012, the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said:
“The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself taught that the ‘love for One’s nation is a part of faith.’ Thus, sincere patriotism is a requirement in Islam. To truly love God and Islam requires a person to love his nation. It is quite clear, therefore, that there can be no conflict of interest between a person’s love for God, and love for his country. As love for one’s country has been made a part of Islam.”
