Lajna Imaillah (Ahmadi Muslim Women’s Auxiliary) Calicut, organised a conference on “Women and Societal Peace” on 11 November 2023 at Kesavamenon Hall. My humble self presided the event as the president of Lajna Imaillah in Calicut. The city mayor Dr Beena Philip attended the event as the chief guest.

The formal session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Shukra Thaha Sahiba. Fameela Muzaffar Sahiba then welcomed the guests followed by a group poem recitation by the members of the Calicut Lajna. A documentary titled ‘A Message of Peace’ was played during the event.

In her inaugural address, Dr Beena Philip commended the Community’s endeavours for peace. Referring to the documentary, she acknowledged the efforts of the present Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community with regard to establishing peace and expressed her wish for world leaders to follow his example in championing this cause worldwide.

This was followed by the keynote address by Safiya Beegum Sahiba, a member of Lajna Imaillah Kodiyathur, wherein she stressed the pivotal role of women in establishing societal peace, illustrating examples of profound contributions to society by women.

Ms Premila Alex, chairperson of Sparsham Palliative Care Society, and Dr Jishna P, a dermatologist at Kozhikode Medical College, delivered felicitation addresses, pledging their full support for future events of this nature.

Siddiqua Saeed Sahiba, district president Lajna Imaillah Calicut and Wayanad, delivered the concluding address. Faiza Salahuddin Sahiba, the organisation’s vice president in Calicut, gave the vote of thanks. The program concluded with silent prayers.

As a token of gratitude, honourable guests were presented with plant saplings and mementos. Exhibitions on the Quran, Ahmadiyya literature, Humanity First and ‘Save the Environment’ were organised as a part of the event. The program was attended by over 180 women, contributing to a meaningful discourse on women and societal peace.
