Promoting Peace: Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Organises #STOPWW3 Campaigns in Kerala

P O THAHIR AHMED, NATIONAL OUTREACH COORDINATOR

OCTOBER 22, 2023

In a collective effort to raise awareness about the imminent dangers of war and the spectre of a third world war, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community conducted a series of “Stop World War 3” campaigns across Kerala. As the National Outreach Coordinator, my humble self had the opportunity to participate in these campaigns.

The event in Ernakulam took place over two days, on 6 and 9 August 2023, commemorating the tragic atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Anti-war awareness rallies were conducted across various regions of the city, including Vazhakkala, Palarivattom, Pipeline, Menaka, and Marine Drive, attended by around 80 members, among whom were District President T K Abu Bakr, Kakkanad President E H Najeeb, Kakkanad Ahmadiyya Missionary U Basheer, and others. The local people were influenced by the unique effort undertaken by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

STOPWW3 Campaign at Trivandrum

In the campaign in Trivandrum, held on 21 September 2023, on the International Day of Peace, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community aimed to remind the world of the pressing need for peace, considering the escalating global conditions. Peaceful gatherings were organised at various locations in the city, including Kanakakunnu, Palayam, Statue, and Shankhumukham Beach. Around 40 members participated in the program, including Muzaffer Ahmed, the president of the Community at Trivandrum, and local Ahmadiyya missionary T Munavar Ahmed, among others.

Likewise, the Community’s chapter in Palakkad also conducted a similar campaign on 24 September 2023, with peace rallies held at Kotta Maithanam and Malampuzha Dam. The event was attended by 35 members, including Palakkad District President H Sulaiman, Palakkad Ahmadiyya Missionary Saeed Ahmad, and Palakkad Chapter President B M Nasrullah, among others.

The Campaign at Ernakulam

In all these campaigns, rallies were carried out peacefully, causing no disruption to traffic or the general public, and without raising any slogans. Pamphlets and folders containing the principles outlined by the Ahmadiyya Khalifa for stopping war and establishing world peace were distributed, and discussions were carried out with interested individuals.

The campaigns drew inspiration from and were a continuation of the global peace campaign led by the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba. Over the past two decades, His Holiness has been tirelessly carrying this message worldwide, addressing numerous important bodies such as the European Parliament, the British Parliament, Capitol Hill in the US, and the German Military Headquarters, among many others. His Holiness also sent letters to various world leaders, urging them to work towards establishing peace and ending wars.

Through initiatives such as these, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strives to disseminate these principles of peace throughout the nation, fostering a global environment characterised by harmony and unity. It is our sincere hope and prayer that our country, as well as the world at large, may become a cradle of lasting peace.
