No organisation or academy has the right to declare a person who professes the Kalima (Islamic declaration of faith) as outside the fold of Islam.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strongly condemns the baseless allegations made against it by Raza Academy Mumbai.
Raza Academy Mumbai is attempting to spread religious hatred and disturb the peace of the country.
In response to a recent ruling by the Pakistan Supreme Court, some clerics of Raza Academy in Maharashtra have emulated the extremist Pakistani clerics, making baseless allegations against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The clerics also used inappropriate language against the Community and its Founder, which has hurt the sentiments of hundreds of thousands of Ahmadi Muslims in India. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India condemns those statements in the strongest terms.
India is a democratic country that is home to various ideologies, where people of different faiths and religions live together with love and brotherhood. The Indian Constitution grants every citizen the right to identify with any religion of their choice. Despite this, some Muslim organisations seek to undermine the religious rights of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and attempt to declare it as non-Muslim.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community accepts only such a definition of Muslim that finds its root in the Holy Quran, conforms to the sayings of the Holy Prophetsa, and has been followed during the time of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs (Rashidun Khilafat). The Holy Founder of Islam, Prophet Muhammadsa, says:
“Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the Salat (prayer), paying the Zakat (obligatory charity), observing the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House, and fasting in Ramadan.”
[Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Iman (The Book on Belief)]
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India accepts and practises upon these foundations of the Islamic faith with all heart and utmost sincerity.
However, the clerics make numerous false accusations against the Community that they do not believe in Prophet Muhammadsa and that they profess a creed different from the Islamic creed. All these allegations are utterly baseless and false. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes in Prophet Muhammadsa with all sincerity and considers him as Khatam an-Nabiyyeen (the Seal of the Prophets). We are ever ready to offer any sacrifice to establish and uphold his honour. We pronounce the same Islamic Creed (Kalima), La Ilaha Illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah, and believe that the Holy Quran is the perfect and final law. Every Ahmadi Muslim abides by the Five Pillars of Islam and sincerely believes in the Six Articles of Faith.
We are a peace-loving Community that completely abides by the laws of the land. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is well-known throughout the country for its various endeavours for the cause of peace. The Indian government recognised the Community as an Islamic sect in its 2011 census report.
Hence, declaring the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to be outside the fold of Islam cannot be justified in any manner. Calling for a social boycott of Ahmadi Muslims would amount to disrupting the unity of our country and disturbing the peace of our nation.
The clerics of Raza Academy disregard the constitutional laws and wish to create an atmosphere of unrest similar to that in Pakistan. They intend to harm the reputation of our country and try to create disorder in the nation.
Hence, they are giving statements in their mosques that tend to create religious hatred against Ahmadi Muslims, inciting people to harm them. For instance, they baselessly allege that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is an agent of the British and Israel, while nothing can be further from the truth. It has become a habit of these clerics to issue statements with absolutely no evidence and engage in such reprehensible efforts to mislead people.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India urges the state government to take concrete action to prevent such organisations and academies from issuing statements aimed at spreading religious hatred and harming the peace of society.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a global organisation that has branches not only in India but in over 200 countries worldwide. The Community presents the true and pristine teachings of Islam and is noted for its significant contributions to global peace. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s efforts to establish justice and serve humanity are recognised in every country where it functions. It is owing to these peace-promoting teachings that the Community has spread across the world. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is not involved in the politics of any country but is a purely spiritual organisation that abides by its long-held motto, ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’.
