Women in Different Faiths: Lajna Imaillah India Organises Interfaith Conference in Qadian

The Lajna Imaillah India organised an interfaith conference on the theme “Status of Women in My Religion” on 4 April 2026 at the Lajna Hall in the Community’s National Headquarters in Qadian. Women from diverse backgrounds attended the programme, including professionals and representatives from various fields of society.

The national anthem was played before the proceedings, following which the formal session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Amatul Hadi Sahiba, followed by its Punjabi translation by Rana Tabassum Sahiba. A poem was then recited by Amatul Basit Bushra Sahiba. Thereafter, the National Secretary for Outreach, Asma Mujahid Sahiba, welcomed the guests.

Guest speakers from different faith traditions presented perspectives on the status of women in their respective religions. My humble self presented the Islamic viewpoint, highlighting the teachings of Islam regarding the dignity, rights, and empowerment of women, and emphasising the pioneering rights granted to women by Islam centuries before the modern era. The Deputy National President of Lajna Imaillah, Amatul Wasee Shumaila Sahiba, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests who had travelled from different cities of Punjab to attend the conference.

The event saw the participation of around 70 guests, including doctors, teachers, academicians, advocates, social workers, and representatives of political parties. Guest speakers were felicitated and presented with mementos. A book stall was also arranged alongside the programme, displaying a range of Community publications.

Refreshments were served to all attendees, providing a valuable opportunity for further interaction and exchange of ideas among participants. The programme succeeded in fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, love, and sisterhood beyond differences, while also creating a platform for meaningful dialogue and the sharing of diverse perspectives.
