AUGUST 15, 2023

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India extends its heartfelt Independence Day wishes to all the people of the country.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India sends heartfelt wishes on this Independence Day to all residents of the nation. As we observe this day, we pay homage to the courageous individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for India’s freedom, granting future generations the privilege of breathing the air of liberty.

India is a democratic republic wherein every resident contributes equitably to its advancement and growth. Therefore, Independence Day serves as a poignant reminder of the obligations we hold towards our nation and fellow citizens. As we celebrate this occasion, we reiterate our commitment to fulfilling our responsibilities for the collective betterment of our beloved country.

Enjoining his countrymen to have respect and empathy for each other, the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, states:

My countrymen, a religion which does not inculcate universal compassion is no religion at all. Similarly, a human being without the faculty of compassion is no human at all. Our God has never discriminated between one people and another. This is illustrated by the fact that all the potentials and capabilities which have been granted to the Aryans have also been granted to the races inhabiting Arabia, Persia, Syria, China, Japan, Europe and America… These attributes of God teach us the lesson that we, too, should behave magnanimously and kindly towards our fellow human beings and should not be petty of heart and illiberal.”

    [A Message of Peace, p. 6]

The Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, states:

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself taught that the ‘love for one’s nation is a part of faith.’ Thus, sincere patriotism is a requirement in Islam. To truly love God and Islam requires a person to love his nation. It is quite clear, therefore, that there can be no conflict of interest between a person’s love for God, and love for his country. As love for one’s country has been made a part of Islam, it is quite clear that a Muslim must strive to reach the highest standards of loyalty to his chosen country, because that is a means of reaching God and becoming close to Him. Hence, it is impossible that the love a true Muslim holds for God could ever prove to be an impediment or barrier preventing him from displaying true love and faithfulness towards his country.

[World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace, p. 29-30]

Islam enjoins the observance of the laws of the land and advises the inhabitants of any country to refrain from engaging in actions that are morally reprehensible, objectionable, or indicative of rebellion.

On this occasion, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India imparts this vital message to all citizens of the nation that they should actively contribute to fostering peace within the country and diligently work towards its advancement and well-being. It is our sincere hope and prayer that this celebration of Independence Day will serve as a catalyst for narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor, eradicating divisions based on caste, creed, and skin colour, and transcending Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Christian distinctions, thereby promoting the supremacy of humanity as a unifying force.

We sincerely pray that God Almighty may make our beloved nation, India, an abode of tranquillity and facilitate its remarkable advancement.
