“May the Muslims of the Arab world today be granted the ability to act upon this guidance, reform their deeds, and make themselves worthy of being counted among the true followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsa.”—Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba
On 29th December 2024, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad concluded the Annual Conventions (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Qadian, India and several other countries with an inspirational address.
His Holiness presided over the concluding session virtually from the Masroor Hall in Islamabad, Tilford. More than 16,000 people gathered at the Jalsa site in Qadian from 42 countries. More than 3,500 attended at Islamabad.
The concluding sessions of the other countries included Togo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Conakry, Niger, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and the United States West Coast.
During his address, His Holiness outlined the deep love and devotion the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) held for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and refuted entirely baseless allegations that he had committed any form of blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessing be upon him).
Throughout his address, His Holiness quoted the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and narrated incidents that show the absolute love he had for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
His Holiness quoted the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) who said:
“The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) loved God completely and his soul melted to the extreme out of sympathy for mankind. Therefore, God, Who knew what lay in his heart, exalted him above all the Prophets and all the first ones and the last ones and bestowed upon him all that he desired within his lifetime. It is he who is the fountainhead of every grace.”
His Holiness also quoted the Promised Messiah’s words that state:
“Treading upon the path that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) laid out before mankind even for ten days ignites such spiritual light within a person that similar effects cannot be attained through the efforts of a thousand years before his advent.”
His Holiness narrated how one afternoon, a companion happened to find the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) walking alone, reciting a couplet by Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit (ra), a devoted companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The couplet, lamenting the loss of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), translates as:
“You were the pupil of my eye; with your death, my sight has dimmed. Let anyone else die after you—I no longer care, for it was your passing I feared.”
Moved by the profound love expressed in these words, the Promised Messiah (as) was seen weeping, with tears flowing down his face. The Promised Messiah (Peace be upon him) recited the couplets several times and said, “If only this couplet of Hassan were mine, and all my couplets were Hassan’s.”
His Holiness also referred to a glimpse of the extraordinary love he held within his heart by quoting a letter of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) to the Arab peoples, longing to meet them as they were the people amongst whom the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was raised.
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) wrote in the letter:
“O servants of Allah, my soul thirsts deeply to meet you. I long to witness the blessings of your lands and your communities so that I may see the earth touched by the footsteps of the Chief of Creation and apply its dust as kohl to my eyes. I yearn to meet the righteous and virtuous of this land and witness its spiritual potential.”
Commenting on the love contained in the letter, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad commented:
“Such are the heartfelt sentiments expressed by the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him). May the Muslims of the Arab world today be granted the ability to act upon this guidance, reform their deeds, and make themselves worthy of being counted among the true followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the genuine adherents of his Ummah. By becoming true practitioners of the path he has laid out, they can reclaim the lofty station that has been lost to them.”
His Holiness narrated that once, the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) expressed his anguish at the hurtful words opponents of Islam use against its Founder (peace and blessings be upon him).
His Holiness quoted those words, which state:
“The heart, while weeping uncontrollably, testifies that if these people were to kill our children before our very eyes, and were to tear apart our loved ones – those dear to us in this worldly life—and if they were to kill us in the most humiliating manner, and seize all of our wealth, then, by Allah, and again by Allah, we would not feel grief, nor would our hearts ache to the extent that they ache from the insults and abuse directed at our beloved Messenger, the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).”
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Can these words be of someone who would insult the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? Those who make such accusations should reflect and think deeply. O opponents of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, who claim to be from the Ummah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and profess love for him, reflect and consider whether your baseless opposition might be incurring the displeasure of Allah. In the current circumstances, examine whether the opposition that you face stems as a result of your own actions and whether its consequences are a result of your own doing. Reflect, even if only a little.”
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad further stated:
“As far as our relationship with Muslims and our sympathy for them is concerned, we adhere to the teaching of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) expressed in this couplet, “O heart, treat these people with kindness, For they ultimately claim love for the Prophet.” We, therefore, maintain love for every Muslim, pray for their well-being, and make every effort within our capacity for their benefit. We hold sincere feelings for them and pray for their guidance. However, they too must strive for improvement. Instead of declaring the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him), the true servant of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a disbeliever, they should listen to and try to understand his message. They should not hastily issue fatwas of disbelief.”
His Holiness said that Ahmadi Muslims hold true love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and any claim to the contrary is baseless.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
“Have you looked into our hearts to see whether or not we possess love and devotion for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and to what extent? Have you observed how deeply our hearts are filled with that love? Have you seen the extent of our faith in his final Shariah? Have you noticed how earnestly we strive to act upon every command of the Holy Quran and firmly believe in it? Have you observed our relentless efforts to establish the Oneness of Allah in the world? Therefore, reflect—reflect, even a little. May Allah grant wisdom to the Muslims so they think in this manner, and may He also enable us to prove our claim of love for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through every action of ours.”
As the concluding address drew to a close, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad expressed his prayers and said:
“May Allah keep every individual attending the Jalsa in Qadian under His protection and safeguard those who are listening from their homes as well. May He grant them the ability to truly act upon the teachings of Islam, express their love and devotion for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and fulfil the rights of their Bai’at (pledge of allegiance).”
