On 12 October 2025, a delegation of Nasiratul Ahmadiyya (Ahmadi young girls’ auxiliary) and Waqifat-e-Nau (female life devotees within the Community) from Ireland had the honour of meeting the Worldwide Head and the Fifth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, at Islamabad, Tilford, UK. During the meeting, a girl asked His Holiness how she could stay away from the constant use of technology and not let it affect her studies. His Holiness responded as follows:
Nowadays, computers and cell phones are prevalent. Some countries, like Australia, are about to pass a law banning mobile phones and the internet for children under the age of 15. This ban will be applied even in schools, as these devices are negatively affecting their mental and intellectual capacity.
So, first and foremost, your daily screen time should not exceed one hour—whether that entails watching television or surfing the internet. Do you do your homework on an iPad? You do it by hand, right? So, limit your screen time to one hour, and even during that time, only watch good and beneficial programs. Abstain from watching vain and useless programs, as people usually do. And if you encounter anything vulgar, immediately recite istighfar. You will be safe as a result.
You should have determination. If you have determination and willpower, you will be able to stay away. If you take everything casually, then you will achieve nothing.
