Eid al-Fitr: Fostering Global Unity and Kindness

To have compassion for mankind and to show empathy towards them is an excellent form of worship. It is a great means of earning the pleasure of Allah.

Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr at the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, praising God Almighty. Truthfulness, kindness, empathy for all creation, and compassion for all people are virtues that Ramadan instils in Muslims. As this blessed month concludes, the day of Eid provides an opportunity to reaffirm our determination to make these lessons a permanent part of our lives.

A distinctive characteristic of Islam is that is emphasises on fulfilling not only the rights of God but also the rights of His creation. In addition to prayers, it is obligatory upon Muslims to give a special form of charity known as Sadaqat al-Fitr (charity of concluding the fast of Ramadan) on the day of Eid. Muslims are instructed to pay this charity before Eid so that the poor can also partake in the happiness. It is only through including others in the happiness that a Muslim can attain the true joy of Eid.

The Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, says:

“To have compassion for mankind and to show empathy towards them is an excellent form of worship. It is a great means of earning the pleasure of Allah.”

The current Worldwide Head and the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, expounded on the true purpose of celebrating Eid, saying:

“Eid is not just a day to gather and celebrate like any other festival. Rather, on that day, we should act upon the commandments of Allah even more than on regular days. We must fulfil the rights of worship as well as the rights of His creation, which is the duty of every believer.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India extends a heartfelt Eid Mubarak to all Muslim brothers and expresses good wishes for the entire world. We pray that Allah makes this Eid a source of blessings, peace, and security, especially for India and the whole world. Ameen.
