A book fair was organized in Dibrugarh, Assam from 26 November to 7 December 2021. Dibrugarh is the largest city in Assam after Guwahati. Among over a hundred stalls set up at the fair, only the stall of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community represented Islam.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim stall served as a promoter of peace at the fair and spread the true and peaceful teachings of Islam. The stall was visited by over a thousand people to whom the true and peaceful message of Islam was introduced. A large majority of those who visited the stall were deeply influenced by the views and beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Dr Siddharth Sharma, a renowned doctor and the district head of the RSS commented that he had previously harboured rancour towards Islam. However, after witnessing the Islamic teachings embedded in peace spread by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, he said, his apprehensions and misconceptions about Islam have been dismissed.
Dr Mohibbul Islam, a professor and author of Assamese-English-Arabic Dictionary visited our stall and engaged in discussion with our representatives on the Ahmadiyya interpretation of a certain verse of the Holy Quran. Two days later, he visited the stall again. He admitted that the interpretation by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is indeed true and is in line with the lofty status of the Holy Prophetsa.
Syed Harun ar-Rashid, an engineer was explained the various initiatives taken by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to spread peace. He said that at a time when Islam, the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophetsa are being constantly attacked, such efforts to publish and distribute books showcasing the immaculate character of Prophet Muhammadsa and spread the true and peaceful teachings of Islam need to be lauded.
Ahmadiyya literature was distributed during the book fair which include 12 copies of World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace, 4 copies of Life of Muhammad and over 800 leaflets on various topics.
