Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Organizes Peace Symposium in Guwahati

On 27 August 2022, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Guwahati chapter organized a peace symposium on the theme “Fundamentals of Establishing Lasting Peace” at the Lily Hotel in Guwahati. The event witnessed a gathering of 133 people from different walks of life.

The program was presided over by Mr Mujahid Ahmed Shastri, a senior scholar of the Community. Before the session started, the national anthem was played. The program formally commenced with the recitation of some selected verses of the Holy Quran and their Assamese translation by Mr Nazimuddin Mullah. Mr Zahoor-ul-Haq then gave an introductory speech, where he presented a brief description of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and its various endeavours and programs in service to humanity. He also mentioned the dedicated efforts of the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community with regard to establishing world peace.

This was followed by speeches from the following honourable guests: Dr Juri Goswami, a member of the World Human Rights Protection Commission (WHRPC), Dr Timir Dey, Head of Department of Bengali at Pandu College, Mr Naresh Kalitha, Chief Editor of Niyomiya Barta, the second most circulated daily newspaper in Assamese language, Runu Hazarika, the national president of National Media Confederation (NMC) and the president of MWO My Fair Lady Welfare Organisation, and Mr Abhay Krishna Charan Das, coordinator for ISKCON Youth Forum Guwahati. A documentary introducing the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and highlighting its various endeavours for world peace was also played in between these speeches.

In her speech, Ms Juri Goswami said that in today’s world of restlessness and anxiety, peace can be attained in society only by abiding by the peaceful message of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas and by following the guidelines of the Ahmadiyya Khalifa. Dr Timir Dey described the event as ‘a need of the hour’ and said that such programs where people from different religions and various walks of life come together should be conducted often. Thereafter, Maulana Aman Ali Zuban, the missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for the Bongaigaon district delivered a speech in Assamese. This was followed by the keynote speech by Maulana Sheikh Mujahid Ahmad Shastri, who was representing the Community from its national headquarters. He specifically addressed the key issues the world is faced with in today’s time and presented the solutions to those problems in light of Islamic teachings as explained by the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba. In the end, Moulvi Rahim Badsha, the president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Guwahati gave the vote of thanks. Maulana Mujahid Shastri led silent prayers after which the program concluded.
