- “May Allah end the injustices from this world and the people may come to recognize God Almighty” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba.
MAY 16, 2021
The World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa (Caliph), His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba, delivered the Eid-ul-Fitr sermon on 14th May 2021 from the Mubarak Mosque in Islamabad, Tilford.
During the sermon, His Holiness outlined the importance of ensuring that Eid proved a means of true and long-lasting celebration, whereby Ahmadi Muslims should pledge to continue the good deeds achieved during the month of Ramadan.
His Holiness also strongly condemned the ongoing campaign of cruelties being inflicted upon the Palestinian people and called on the Muslim world to show a united front in defence of their rights. His Holiness instructed Ahmadi Muslims to pray for all those in need and facing injustices so that their hardships may be alleviated.
Speaking about the true objectives of Eid, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
It is the limitless bounty of Allah that He enabled us to pass through the month of Ramadan and witness the day of Eid today. However, was this the purpose of Ramadan? Did He simply want that we fast for 29 or 30 days and then we should celebrate the joys of Eid and have food aplenty? Rather, we can and will only truly benefit from this favour of God when we understand the real purpose and objectives underpinning fasting during the month of Ramadan and celebrating Eid – which is that if we have truly acted upon piety during Ramadan, then we should be able to forever continue and build upon the blessings and pious changes made during Ramadan.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba continued
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has said that we should anticipate the arrival of the next Ramadan as soon as one Ramadan ends and that period in between should be spent whilst acting upon the good changes [brought about during the month of Ramadan] so that its blessings continue in perpetuity.
His Holiness mentioned that it was the great fortune of Ahmadi Muslims to have believed in the Imam of the Age, the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) who has given guidance on the teachings of Islam in such a way that it has enabled Ahmadi Muslims to understand and act upon the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
His Holiness said that the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) explained repeatedly that both the rights of God and of mankind must be fulfilled and were fundamental to the faith of a Muslim.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
If we sincerely focus upon fulfilling both the rights of God and of His creation then we can become successful and can be counted amongst the true believers. Fulfilling both these rights is in essence the sum of all the teachings of Islam and it is the sign of a true believer. Allah the Almighty has shown numerous ways of fulfilling these rights, and one of them is to fast during the month of Ramadan which teaches that one can attain their purpose by striving in the cause of God. Then it is followed by Eid. Eid too is not simply for enjoyment’s sake, rather it has a purpose. Certainly, the blessings of Ramadan can be attained only if a person adopts the pious changes as a continuous part of his life and the joy of Eid will only be attained when we make these changes a part of us forever.
His Holiness mentioned that we claim to love God Almighty, however we should understand the standard of love that is required in order to truly love God.
His Holiness quoted the Promised messiah (peace be upon him), who said:
What is meant by ‘loving God’? It is to give precedence to Allah the Almighty’s wishes above and beyond one’s own parents, wife, one’s own self; over all else.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him states), ‘You should always be fearful of God. Before any action, think of whether that action would be pleasing to God or would incur His displeasure… The five daily prayers are of great importance and are a believer’s best means of beseeching God Almighty.
His Holiness said that when praying, a person should do so with true humility and fervency.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
The worship of Allah through the five daily prayers offered with sincerity and fervency and reading the Holy Quran whilst pondering over its meanings will make our Eid a true celebration and will make our Eid eternal. So, have we made a pledge during this Ramadan to celebrate such an Eid? If not, then we should make a pledge today, that in order to continually better our prayers and to ponder over the words of the Holy Quran, we should make our celebration of Eid a continuous jubilation. This is the only means to do so.
His Holiness also emphasised the Islamic teachings of fulfilling the rights of others and treating the poor and needy and those less fortunate with kindness and not showing disdain towards them.
His Holiness said that Ahmadi Muslims should spend their wealth in order to help impoverished members of society and should participate in the different initiatives and funds being run by Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to help those in need.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
Ahmadi Muslims help one another in an individual capacity, however there are funds established as a Community too to assist those who are deprived and vulnerable. Those who are able to, should spend something for those causes as well. There is a fund for helping the sick, another for orphans, the deprived, one for helping poor students and many other similar funds. So those who have the capacity should try to contribute to these.
Concluding his sermon, His Holiness spoke up for the rights of the Palestinian people and drew attention towards praying for them as they are being subjected to horrific cruelties, the use of unjust force and are being evicted from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah. His Holiness called on Muslim nations to show a united front and to stand against the cruelties and injustices.
His Holiness also asked Ahmadi Muslims to pray for all those around the world who were facing injustices.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:
Pray for all those who are suffering or in need that Allah the Almighty fulfills their legitimate needs and removes their difficulties. Further, pray that all forms of injustice and cruelties may be eradicated from the face of the earth. May Allah bring an end to all injustices and may the people of the world come to recognise God Almighty.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad further said:
“We should also pray that the Covid pandemic comes to an end and that such circumstances come about where there is true peace and the world returns to normal. However, this will only happen when the people of the world shall recognise God Almighty and when they fulfil the rights of Allah the Almighty and His creation. May Allah enable everyone to do so.
His Holiness concluded the address with a silent prayer.
Later in the day, His Holiness also delivered the weekly Friday Sermon.
