In observance of the International Day of Peace, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community organised a seminar on 21 September 2023 at the Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The theme of the event was “The Role of Youth in Promoting Peace in Society”.
The program included three speeches. Husam Ahmed Shafeeq, an Ahmadiyya missionary representing the Community from its national headquarters, emphasised the vital role of youth in society and stressed Islam’s focus on justice and the importance of treating others as one wishes to be treated. He also highlighted the significance of a loving relationship with the Creator to foster love for His creation.
This was followed by two speeches from Dr Rajesh Kumar Chander, an associate professor from the Department cum Centre for Women Studies and Development, Panjab University, and Dr Ghanshyam Dev, an associate professor from the Department of Political Science, DAV College, Chandigarh, who shared their insightful ideas on the topic.
A documentary showcasing the global peace initiatives of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was screened after the speeches, shedding light on the Community’s efforts to promote peace worldwide.
The floor was then opened for questions, with the panel including Mr Tabrez Ahmed Suleja, another missionary and representative of the Community, in addition to the speakers. This session provided students with the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification on the topics discussed, and created a platform for engaging dialogue and knowledge sharing.
The event concluded with a delicious lunch served to all attendees, fostering camaraderie and fellowship among participants.
