Ahmadi Muslim Women Organize Interfaith Conference in Qadian

An interfaith conference was organized by Lajna Imaillah (women’s auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community), Qadian on the theme, “Role of Women in Establishing Peace” on 12 December 2021. The event took place in the premises of Nusrat Library, Qadian.

The session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Wajeeha Basharat Sahiba followed by a poem recited by Safiya Habib Sahiba. After this, Amatul Wasee Shumaila Sahiba, the National Deputy Head of Lajna Imaillah, India delivered the welcome address. This was followed by a speech by Shalini Nasira Thahir Sahiba, secretary for outreach activities Lajna Imaillah, Qadian highlighting the role of women in establishing peace. After this, many guest speakers addressed the gathering among whom were Ms Paramjit Kaur, Director of Sri Dashmesh School Qadian, Ms Bhupinder Kaur, a Sikh scholar, Ms Harpinder Kaur and Ms Navdip Kaur, both teachers at Navchetan Public School Qadian, Ms Poonam Khanna, Zilla Karyakarini Sadasya and Ms Priya Bhatia, Mandal Qadian Sanyojak.

Charanjit Kaur Bajwa, ex-MLA Qadian and the wife of the Rajya Sabha member Pratap Singh Bajwa, who was the chief guest of the event also addressed the gathering and shared her thoughts.

Amatul Naseer Bushra Sahiba, principal Taleem-ul-Islam Senior Secondary School delivered the concluding address in which she highlighted the need for peace in today’s era. She also shared her views on the role of women in peacebuilding in the light of Quranic teachings. She also outlined the various efforts undertaken by the Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba towards peace and mentioned the letters he wrote to various world leaders stressing the need for establishing peace in the world. She also mentioned the Ahmadiyya Peace Prize awarded annually in recognition of an individual’s or an organization’s contribution for the advancement of the cause of peace. The program concluded with silent prayers, in which all of the attendees took part according to their respective beliefs and faiths.

The program was attended by more than thirty non-Ahmadi guests among whom were teachers, politicians, religious scholars as well as women from other walks of life. The chief guest and other speakers were gifted Ahmadi literature and all guests were presented leaflets outlining the views of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Community on various issues. Besides, a bookstall was also set up adjacent to the venue of the program which was availed by the guests. Some showed keen interest in knowing about the Community and bought some books from the stall.

The activities of women of Community display how sincere they are towards establishing peace.
