On 28 June 2026, members of Lajna Imaillah (Ahmadi Women’s Auxiliary) and Nasiratul Ahmadiyya (Young Girls’ Auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community) from Switzerland were granted a meeting with the worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, at Islamabad, Tilford, UK. During the meeting, attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and seek His Holiness’ guidance on a range of issues. One girl asked how she could overcome the sense of inferiority that might arise from being the only one in her school who wears Hijab.
His Holiness replied:
I have told you before that we have to convey the message of Islam to the world. The teachings of Islam require us to remain strong in our faith. Therefore, there is no need to develop an inferiority complex.
Even if someone bullies you, you should respond by saying that you are right and they are wrong. There is no need to be afraid. An Ahmadi Muslim has to lead the world; they should not be afraid of the world. Therefore, there is no need to worry.
If you do not wear Hijab in school because it is forbidden, because your teachers tell you not to, or because the school rules require you to abide by the school uniform, then it does not matter. You should wear it when you come outside. However, if you are able to wear it in school, then that is a very good thing.
You ought to possess a strong character. Show them that this is your character: you are not seeking to please them, but are seeking to please Allah, Who commands you to dress modestly. Show them that modesty is part of your character, and tell them that although they consider it to be wrong, you consider it to be right.
Tell them that, as Christians, they are forgetting the teachings of Christianity. We see the pictures of Mary wearing a scarf on her head. Their Mary walked around wearing a scarf, yet they question you.
Tell them that you are following the example of Mary, whereas they are not.
