AUGUST 15, 2020

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, India extends its heartfelt wishes to all the people of the country on the occasion of Independence Day.

August 15 is a historic day that marked an important milestone in India’s development because it was on this day that India achieved independence in 1947.

India is the largest democracy in the world in terms of population. People belonging to different religions, cultures, ethnic identities and languages live here in an atmosphere of mutual respect, love and brotherhood.

In his speech, which he delivered in Germany in 2012, the Worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba said:

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself taught that the ‘Love for one’s nation is a part of faith.’ Thus, sincere patriotism is a requirement in Islam. To truly love God and Islam requires a person to love his nation. It is quite clear, therefore, that there can be no conflict of interest between a person’s love for God, and love for his country. As love for one’s country has been made a part of Islam.

Acting upon these teachings, every Ahmadi resident of India loves his beloved country and works tirelessly for the development and prosperity of his nation. Every Ahmadi abides by the laws of this nation and is always ready to serve the country in every possible manner.

Celebration of Independence Day in fact reminds us that we should all work hard for the development of India and promote peace and unanimity in the country.

In this time when the whole world is suffering from COVID-19, it is important for us Indians to support one another and alleviate each other’s suffering so that our country may develop and prosper with all its people.

“Love for all hatred for none” is not only the motto of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, instead, the community’s practical example is in accordance with this motto. There is no doubt that following this principle is the need of the hour.

May Allah the Almighty make our homeland India a cradle of peace and may our country develop in all respects. May God save humanity from the scourge of this disease. Amin.
