YASMIN ASHRAF, SECRETARY OUTREACH, LAJNA IMAILLAH CALICUT
On 11 April 2026, Lajna Imaillah (Ahmadi Muslim Women’s Auxiliary), Calicut chapter, organised a women’s conference on the theme “Women: Architects of Peace and Humanity” at Baitul Quddoos Mosque, Calicut. The event was chaired by the President of Lajna Imaillah Calicut, Dr Waseema Salam Sahiba, and witnessed an attendance of 140 women, including many guests from outside the Community.
Prior to the formal proceedings, a documentary titled A Call unto Peace was screened, highlighting the community’s efforts to establish peace across the world. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ashna Sanam Sahiba, followed by a welcome address delivered by Mubashira Noufal Sahiba.
Dr Waseema Salam Sahiba then delivered the Presidential Address, in which she emphasised the dignified status accorded to women in Islam. A heartfelt poem on love and harmony by members of Calicut Lajna added a touching and harmonious element to the event. The Inaugural Address was then delivered by Faiza Salahuddin Sahiba, President of Lajna Imaillah Kozhikode-Wayanad District.
The Keynote address was delivered by Muhsina Tahir Sahiba, who highlighted the pivotal role women play in fostering peace within society and stressed the growing need for humanity and compassion in today’s world.
The conference was further enriched by inspiring addresses from esteemed guests.
Ms K.C. Shobitha, Ward Councillor, commended Lajna Imaillah for organising such a meaningful programme. Expressing admiration for the discussions on pressing global issues, she emphasised that women must step forward to lead society towards a peaceful world.
Ms Fouzia Mubashir, South India Secretary of OISCA International and Chairperson, WMC Women’s Forum, Malabar Region, highlighted Islam’s profound emphasis on peace and expressed hope that women leaders would help guide the world through today’s challenging times.
Ms Kshema Thomas, writer, travel vlogger and District Insurance Officer, appreciated the Community’s consistent efforts in organising impactful programmes each year to raise awareness among women. She also underscored the remarkable ability of women to balance and manage multiple responsibilities in society.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shariha Siddiq Sahiba, followed by silent prayers and refreshments. As tokens of appreciation, guests were presented with mementoes, potted plants, and literature that included the books World Crisis and Pathway to Peace, Women in Islam, and copies of the Community’s women-run Malayalam magazine, An-Nur.

Quran Exhibition & Calligraphy Workshop: Titled “Tanzeel: The Perfectly Preserved Word of God”, the stall provided information on the Divine preservation of the Holy Quran and its enduring authenticity. It also featured a calligraphy workshop, where attendees explored different calligraphic styles and took part in hands-on activities involving Quranic verses.
World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace: This exhibition highlighted the current global situation and presented the pathway to peace as outlined by the World Head and current Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaba. It showcased the prophecies of the Founder of the Community and displayed a timeline of the Caliph’s warnings regarding the present crisis, along with images from his addresses delivered at various parliaments and international platforms.
Seed Distribution Stall: Titled “Go Green”, this eco-friendly section promoted environmental awareness by gifting 50 packets of vegetable seeds to attendees, along with small informational cards about Lajna Imaillah.
Book Stall: A selection of Ahmadiyya literature was available for purchase in this stall. Attendees showed keen interest in the books on display, which covered themes of peace, spirituality, women’s rights, and the teachings of Islam, providing visitors with an opportunity to further explore the message of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
The conference concluded on a note of unity, purpose, and sisterhood, reaffirming the role of women as true architects of peace and humanity.
